About

Modern social media platforms are engineered to capture our attention, creating behavioral loops that are difficult to break. Most scrolling happens unconsciously, and the real cost of this distraction isn't just our attention it's what we could have accomplished instead.

To tackle this problem, I co-founded Napoleon1 with a partner. Our mission was to offer a radical way out of endless distractions by making screen time conscious again. We designed a mobile app that uses financial disincentives: users set their own price for each minute they spend on social apps beyond a self-allotted free period, turning wasted time into a tangible cost.

The genius of Napoleon is that it doesn't block anything; it just makes you aware of the real cost of your time. That awareness alone changes everything.

Work

  • [x] Developed the complete mobile application using React Native and Expo.
  • [x] Integrated Apple's Screen Time API to securely and privately monitor usage on user-selected social media apps in real-time.
  • [x] Designed and built the project's landing page to communicate the app's unique value proposition and attract alpha testers.

Results

  • Successfully deployed a fully functional MVP to Apple's TestFlight, making it available to the first cohort of alpha users.
  • Attracted 100+ alpha testers in the initial phase, validating the core concept and gathering crucial user feedback.
  • Participated in the creation of the Time Left2 non-profit association, which receives 50% of the app's revenue to combat screen addiction.
